Pull Cord Extractor Fan Wiring
To make sure it all works i have connected a plug to the the end of the wiring and all works.
Pull cord extractor fan wiring. I am having problems connecting it to the pull cord sitch. I have a bathroom extractor fan. This wiring plan will simply run the fan when the room light is on. It can also be adapted for separate switching if required.
Im attaching a picture of each. Over the years it has stopped working and i have simply disconnected taken out old one and put in a new one same type eg. Look at the wiring for a bathroom fan on the internet. In this video i m installing and wiring a pull cord switch.
Now you need to turn the power back on and try the extractor fan out. Extractor fans with an integral timer or timed switch need a 3 core and earth supply to allow the unit to run on after a light is switched off. I have just installed an extractor fan in the bathroom and am now trying to connect it to come on with the light switch. Hi diyer here also 1st post gulp 8 i ve lived in my house for 30 years we have always had a 100mm pull cord type extractor fan in the bathroom.
I need to replace a pull cord switch for a shower extractor fan but would appreciate advice regarding wiring as the old and new switches are different types. Its works by a humidistat a timer a pull cord switch on the fan when pulled comes on for the duration of the timer and a on off pull switch by the door. This is because when you switch the fan off at the pull cord there is still a permanent live wire connected to the fan for the timer. Wiring an extractor fan is not a task that most people will feel comfortable doing themselves.
The fan i m connecting is man. The existing switch has common l1 and l2 with the lives currently going together into com and both neutr. It must also be possible to isolate the fan by means of a pull switch inside the bathroom or a fan isolation 3 pole switch outside of the bathroom. Because it s the last point of the circuit i decided to wire all at the switch that s why i h.
This must be more than just switching off the mcb in the fuse box. However it is something that most people are capable of doing. Unlike other fan installations it does not need a permanent live connection. Options include a manual pull switch and a vacuum time lag switch.
The time lag switch will allow the fan to be manually started but then. Currently it is wired from the lighting circuit.
